Keren Simchas Chosson V’Kallah is an organization that every single Chosson and/or Kallah in Crown Heights has heard of in the course of their engagement and wedding. The woman who stands behind it, Mrs. Devorah Benjamin is the driving force and the one that without her it could not survive.

For that CrownHeights.info would like to recognize and nominate Mrs. Benjamin as “Our Hero in our Community.” This nomination is for the UJC’s “Jewish Community Heros” where people can vote for their hero and the winner will be awarded $25,000, and in Devorah’s case, is money which we know will be used to help our Chassanim and Kallahs.

    Even if she is first on the list she won’t necessarly win. It’s a group of judges who will choose 5 finalists from the top 10 and the winner from those 5.

    What about the vendors (photographers, musicians, florists and caterers) she’s driven out of business because they could not afford to charge prices she would set to make her appear as the champion of the poor. There are yungerleit with families and mortgages who are struggling because of this stupid, uncaring woman. I just had to get it off my chest.

    Dear Not a Supporter:
    When you need to get your kids marry off,go door to door and raise money yourself. OH, and organize everything else yourself too. WHATS THAT? You dont know what to do? And one of the few people who do know is Devorah Benjamin?? OH< right, she is stupid and caring. So, she won’t care about your kids. Or about that Machon Chana girls. Or the HaDar HaTorah boys. YOU can go out and raise money for them because their families abandoned them because they became frum.

    Ok so let me explain this negitive comment above about d benjaman.
    You see when she makes a wedding ie pays for one she offers what’s in her budget to the vendors being carfull to ensure a rotation making sure she speads the jobs around.

    A comment like the one above u can be sure comes from one of these vendors who doesn’t feel that the amount of money she offers is enough.

    “If u don’t want her buissness don’t take the job”

    And you guys make over 1000 per night

    100 jobs per year allows you to survive very well.

    Once in every few jobs to do one at a reduced rate can be part of your tzedakah which will give you more jobs.

    they changed it – now there’s 20 people on the leaderboard, and devorah benjamin is #11. but that makes no sense, cuz it says she has 12765 votes, and nominees 2-10 all have 4 digits of votes! anyone know what’s going on there???

    I just voted because I just saw it! She made my aunt’s wedding and it all went so smoothly! It was like a dream! She was my old neighbor and to Not a supporter… whatever I won’t say it. You know she’s amazing.

    My only concern is why out of all the nominees yours doesn’t have a picture! i’ve voted lots of times already, but i think the picture helps overall. good luck!

MY GRIPE WITH HER IS THAT SHE MAKES YOU ALWAYS REMEMBER THAT “IF NOT FOR HER…” BUT IN THE FINAL ANALISYS SHE COMES THROUGH LIKE NO ONE ELSE DOES.

    then if you dont like her , dont use her!!! but stop bashing, she spends more time on your families than her family!!! she has such dedication, devotion and true love for this!!!doesnt take any money for herself,,,and truely tries to help!! and it is good she got the prices down. what chutzpah it is to charge families an arm and a leg just for music!!
    one thing i say to her though ,,, why do it? these pple dont seem to appreciate you, and who said they have to have such luxuries!!! the weddings these days are way out of control!! what happened to budgeting, and if you cant afford, then dont do it.. i was impressed, a chassuna i went to did not have a band,,, they used an “ipod”… she doesnt need to do this!!!
