DRIVERS BEWARE! TAKE NOTE!
CROWN HEIGHTS, Brooklyn [CHI] — The intersection of Brooklyn Ave and Lefferts Ave has turned into a big source of income for the City as unsuspecting drivers are continuing to make the right turn from Brooklyn Ave onto Lefferts Ave, which is illegal during the stated hours.
Monday through Friday between 8:00 AM and 10:00 AM then again between 3:00 PM and 5:00 PM it is illegal to make that right turn, regardless if it’s a school day or not.

Another trap
Another latest hot spot is Albany and President. There is a cop car who sits at the corner of President and watches cars going up Albany. I live on that corner and see him all day long turning onto Albany and stopping cars, for anything, such as running the red, cell phone, no seat belt, etc. So again, drivers beware of that corner
leah
anyone making the turn deserves the ticket. the sign is clear.
DON-T JUDGE
To Leah,
why don’t you get off your high horse and be a bit more realistic. The sign may be clear, but if you are not familiar with it, and you are keeping your eye on the road, it is a quite common to miss.
This article is to warn unsuspecting drivers, not the ones who already know about the sign.
SAFTEY
The sign is up there because there is a school on that corner and it was put up for the safety of the children crossing the street i live a block away and see the way drivers turn that corner and its hard to see when people are crossing so if you turn on that corner you deserve a ticket and if you say that you cant see the sign get glasses or start paying attention because today you don’t see the sign tomorrow you wont see a person crossing the street.

TO ANOTHER TRAP:
If you run a red, talk on your cell while driving & don’t wear a seat belt, then you should get a ticket. I drive down albany every day & hve never been stopped & ticketed because I don’t do illegal things when I drive.

Actually, the signs are a bit small and indistinguished; they are hard to see for a driver making 30mph (the speed limit) down Brooklyn Ave.
And, Leah, thank you for passing judgment on other Yidden.

also people think that it only on school days because it is made for the school

why cant people see this as BH a new step to eliminate the chances of our children getting hit by a car!
deserve the ticket
anyone doing these things (red light, cell phone, seat belt) DOES deserve a ticket, and it’s all for our own safety – driver, passengers, and pedestrians (Tickets for parking or technicalities are just abuse and moneymakers for the city)
that being said, there is still a purpose in posting a warning so that people take the warning to do the right thing and avoid a ticket – again, BY DOING THE RIGHT THING!
Thanks
Was it was Bais Rivka’s staff that advocated for that sign?

I strongly beilieve that they should make it always forbidden to turn as to save people from confusion and paying a ticket! It was wrong to make a limit on when to turn! The first thing a person thinks about when seeing the right to turn sign is that you can turn on a red no matter what!!
Let-s all care for each other
And don’t forget that it is also illegal to pass a school bus with flashing lights. even if it parked and you are driving in the opposite direction on a wide 2 way street.
because it is unsafe and it’s illegal. And it is a nasty, hefty ticket.

Thank you ch.info for keeping us updated…I’ve been driving for years, and I never knew that! Thank you.

My kids attend that school, I want them safe to and from school – if u turn, u deserve a ticket!!

to awacs:
30 mph is the MAXIMUM speed limit! Most people (goyim & yidden) consider it a minimum. Bottom line is if you break the law you get a ticket!
Concerneddad
I agree with Leah and all others that agree. All others are likely guilty of doing all of the above and yes you deserve aticket at the least. A nite in jail would do well too.
You have no clue what it is like to get hit by a car let alone have your child get hit by a car. No clue at all!

As many of the others wrote… Children and people’s lives are in danger when we do illegal things. When you are driving you are supposed to be super diligent to see everything around you… telling a cop you didnt see a sign because you were driving 30 mph will not get you off… and if you are about to turn you should NOT be going 30 mph especially at a corner where hundreds of children cross every day. In regards to seatbelts …you should be wearing them..seatbelts save lives… kudos to the cops for giving the ticket…. no life is worth the 50-100 dollar ticket…..and cell phones… when you are distracted you put YOUR life … your passengers lives and the lives of people around you in danger………. its a MITZVAH ..vinishmartem meod…. to watch yourself……. cops do give unfair tickets sometimes that is true….. but in these cases…. they are well deserved and there is a lesson to be learned!

I live near BR and when the school kids are crossing, I see cars turning all the time and almost never see a cop.
During the summer when there is no school, I know pre-school was there, but no 4 year olds are there themselves, the cops sit and wait on Lefferts and catch car after car. I know it’s wrong to turn but when there is no school people figure the sign doesn’t matter.
During the school year, you see the kids during those times so you know.
