Neighbors Unite for Street Clean-Up and Daffodil Planting
Just before the big freeze of 2026 – residents of all ages came together for a neighborhood street clean-up in Crown Heights, demonstrating a shared commitment to beautifying the community and fostering local pride.
Held in partnership with the Crown Heights Local Development Corporation, One Crown Heights, and IDCC (Interborough Development and Consultation Center), the event brought neighbors side by side to clean Kingston Avenue between Eastern Parkway and St. John’s. Volunteers also planted daffodil bulbs that will bloom this spring as a symbol of renewal and care.
In addition to hands-on volunteering, participants enjoyed warm drinks, refreshments, and the opportunity to connect with one another in a positive, family-friendly setting.
This event was spearheaded by Mrs. Cassey McFadden, as a positive response to past problems with litter on that block. Her initiation reflected the power of collaboration and community action—showing how small efforts, one block at a time, can create lasting change in Crown Heights.
The daffodils were donated by The Daffodil Project, a citywide New York City initiative that plants daffodils across the five boroughs as a living memorial to the victims of September 11th. Each flower planted serves as a lasting tribute to those who were lost.
