Artists Nitzan Mintz, Tal Huber and Dede, celebrated for his bandaid art, launched an impactful guerrilla campaign to shed light on the ongoing situation in Israel. Their primary focus was to draw attention to the harrowing events surrounding the October 7 attack along the Gaza Strip border.
Their mission began with securing permission from affected families and creating attention-grabbing posters featuring a bold “Kidnapped” headline and images of the abducted Israelis. Initially, these posters were made available on Dropbox, but overwhelming demand caused the link to fail. In response, an official website was established, offering these posters in multiple languages.
This campaign holds significant importance in preserving the true narrative and spreading awareness. While we may be far from the epicenter of events, we can contribute through prayers, charitable actions, and ensuring that the story remains pertinent, allowing people to understand the gravity of the situation. Posters have emerged in the United States, Greece, Portugal, Poland, the UK, the Netherlands, and even as far as Australia, making their presence felt on college campuses like Harvard and Columbia. Notably, these eye-catching orange flyers have now graced Eastern Parkway in Crown Heights, adorning various subway stations, including Franklin Ave, Nostrand Ave, and Kingston Ave.
Passersby couldn’t help but pause and inquire about the posters. Some were entirely unaware of the situation, prompting them to seek more information from the volunteers. The responses were varied – some took photos and expressed gratitude, while others asked questions to better comprehend the cause. However, one young woman, began tearing down the posters before someone intervened, a stark reminder of the obstacles truth can face.
