  • kiryat chaim

Hey lehrers, what a surprise!but where are the girls? shmuli, i have to see you online?

  • Eli

I was distressed to see Yidden and neighbors cleaning up the dead chickens erev Yom Kippur left in the alley on Brooklyn Avenue by Oholei Torah. This is the WORST EXAMPLE of kapporos done the wrong way. The sponsors failed to clean up and left it to the NYC Health Department to deal with the mess. We should not be surprised if NYC clamps down on kappores next year! Shame on those people who left the chickens to rot in an ally. A shonda!!!

  • Proud Chickenarian

    To Proud Vegetarian:

Actually it’s part of human survival, I mean, I believe that if not for the 800k+ chickens that are slaughtered by Kaporos, and the millions more which are shechted daily – the would be such on overwhelming population of chickens (and roosters, and of course eggs ) that it would force the human race to live underground so that we won’t be stepping on them.

And then, around 23 years after that would happen, some other animals may get the same idea (say cows) and there may be an agricultural war which will leave millions of -what what would have been innocent living things- dead!

But this way we control the population and grows of these "living things" for their own benefit.

Therefore I know that with every bite I take of a good steak or piece of chicken , that I am saving both human kind and "other living things".

On the other hand, forget about all the above, how can you say no to a juicy steak? I mean, I would get depressed if my biggest appetite was for French fries!

May you on day see the light, and taste good food.

  • Disgusted by close mindedness!

    Proud Vegetarian,
Are you aware that Kaporos is halacha? Do you realize, that you sound just like the PETA RETARDS? Where do u get your views? Are you so openminded to the POOR Chickens that your brains fell out? You can attack me back, but I want to tell you what I see when I go to Kaporos. I see a bunch of erliche yidden going to teach their children what it means to exchange life. I see a bunch of erliche women, despite the fact that it makes them uncomfortable, going to do the rotzon of Hashem. I see a bunch of erliche yidden doing what our rabbayim have taught us to do. If it was inhumane, as you see it, The rabbayim would not have instituted this minhog,, minhog yisroel Torah hu, so if you are saying that koporos is inhumane, you are saying that halacha is inhumane. I would advise you to rethink your logic. In your liberal mindedness, you lose sight of the big picture. That thousands of yidden take their kinderlach, at all hours of the night to go do kaparos as close to yom kippur as possible to teach them that we need to do teshuvah. I wonder why all these "liberal minded, open minded" people cant see a whole picture,, u know? I wish for you this year a gut gebentched yur, and a yur voo doo chapsts a bissel saichel! A blessed year, and a year where you get some seichel.
BTW, are you awayre of the fact that HALACHA mandates busur vdogim on shabbos?

  • Your Family from Montgomery

Hey Twins! Looking good as always! You don’t look too scared! Keep it up! See you soon!
BTW, it looks like Chaim is holding the chicken. Look again. His sleeve is black, remember?

  • The Flood is Over

To proud vegetarian: Get a life and find some happiness. After the great flood HaShem said we can eat meat and taught us how to shecht certain animals for that purpose. The talmud even teaches "ayn simcha ela b’basar" – there is no happiness except with meat.

  • Another Proud Vegetarian

I’m with Proud Vegitarian – you should all be ashamed of yourselves.

How would you like it if some being slaughtered you for food?

Do you know that baby chicks have their tender beaks cut off shortly after birth without any anesthetic? They are kept in overcrowded cages so that they can’t move and are covered in their own feces? Did you know that hundreds of boy baby chicks are just thrown into garbage bags and killed daily just because they are a boy?

If you want to put chemicals and disease in your bodies by consuming meat, then go ahead, be my guest. I’ll stick with fruit and vegetables and I’ll live a lot longer and healthier!

I hope this gets published here and not tossed aside with your selective comment posting. Thank g-d for freedom of speech!

I think it is big religious fundamentalized error. Eating meat doesn’t make someone more happy or not.It depends on your eating habit if your happy with meat or not.
