Remsen Village Shul Welcomes Wircberg Sefer Torah

by CrownHeights.info

Throngs of Crown Heightsers filled the streets of Remsen Village Thursday welcoming a new Sefer Torah to their new shul in memory of Mrs. Alessa Wircberg OBM.

The procession marched, danced, and sang through the rain and down the wide street of Remsen Ave, accompanying the Torah to its new home at Lubavitch of Remsen Village.

Thanks to the help of the NYPD 67th Precinct, Remsen Ave was shut down to facilitate the procession, creating a big kiddush hashem as the community’s neighbors were able to witness the joyous occasion.

The Torah was completed at 9029 Kings Highway, with the procession accompanying the completed Sefer Torah to the building slated to become the new center for Lubavitch of Remsen Village.

The Torah was written in memory of Mrs. Alessa Wircberg OBM, whose life was all about learning Torah and doing Mitzvos. Learning as much as she could while supporting her family, she even encouraged her husband to learn Torah while she would worked.

This Torah, written in her honor, will honor her legacy: a life filled with Torah, an honor to the life she taught and lived.
