Crown Heights Hatzalah Welcomes A Fifth Ambulance

by CrownHeights.info

It’s a new day, and Crown Heights Hatzalah now has a new ambulance.

Just yesterday, Crown Heights Hatzalah took delivery of a new state of the art ambulance, bringing the number of ambulances in its fleet to five.

The expansion of the Crown Heights Hatzalah fleet follows the expansion of the Crown Heights Jewish community, which has rapidly spread into the areas of East Flatbush, Remson Villiage, and Brownsville.

The new ambulance from Horton Emergency Vehicles and marked CH-905, may look similar on the outside to the other Crown Heights Hatzalah ambulances, but on the inside, it’s an entirely different story.

Where the older Hatzalah ambulances hold simple ambulance stretchers that require manual lifting, the new ambulance boasts a state of the art self-loading electric stretcher from Stryker. The new stretchers are capable of loading and unloading themselves from the ambulance, saving the volunteers energy, and protecting them from injury.

The ambulance’s electrical control system is also new, with sleek screens, colored lights, and versatile controls. Privacy windows, new LED emergency lights, and state of the art communication systems make the ambulance even more capable than before.

As with many such pieces of expensive equipment, the purchase of the over $250,000 volunteer ambulance was purchased through a generous donation from a Crown Heights couple, who dedicated it in honor of the Rebbe. “Dedicated to the REBBE”, dedication lettering on the ambulance reads, “Whose Leadership continues to serve as a beacon of inspiration and unconditional selfless love for all”.

While the ambulance purchase may have already been donated, the upkeep of these life-saving vehicles reaches into the tens of thousands annually. So next time to see a Crown Heights Hatzalah Ambulance zooming by, don’t forget to donate at https://www.hatzalah.ch/donatenew/
