Second Group of Crown Heights Plasma Donors

by CrownHeights.info

Thirty nine Crown heights residents spent the day donating plasma to help COVID-19 patients in Critical condition.

The group made their way to New Jersey Blood Center in New Brunswick, NJ, where they had their blood, rich with COVID-19 antibodies, cycled through a machine and plasma extracted.

The “convalescent plasma” is the liquid part of blood that is collected from patients who have recovered from the novel coronavirus disease. The plasma of those recovered from COVID-19 may contain antibodies that studies show may help others in critical condition fight the infection.

This group of donors is the second  from the mass Save A Life Antibody Testing Event that took place in Crown Heights last week. The testing was coordinated through the Mayo Clinic with the of organizations including Lakewood Bikur Cholim, Hatzalah, and the Gedaliah Society.
