Save a Life Day: Crown Heights Hosts Community Antibody Testing

by CrownHeights.info

Hundreds of Crown Heights residents filtered into Oholei Torah Tuesday afternoon to have their blood tested for COVID-19 antibodies at the highly successful Save a Life Day Event in Crown Heights.

Spaced out over six hours, dozens of volunteers from the Gedaliah Society, Hatzalah and local medical offices drew blood from Crown Heights residents, while the well organized crowd kept to strict social distancing guidelines.

The testing was conducted by the Mayo Clinic, with community activists partnering with Lakewood Bikur Cholim, Crown Medical PC, The Gedaliah Society, Hatzalah of Crown Heights, and Kamin Health to arrange the testing drive.

The testing took place in the hopes of identifying a large amount of eligible plasma donors, each one able to possibly save a life. Crown Heights’s large amount of COVID-19 cases made for a unique opportunity to save lives and create a Kiddush Hashem.

The event was co-sponsored by a group of young Lubavitchers, who generously provided the needed funds to make the event happen.
