A Kiddush in Memory of Dovid Yona Dubinsky OBM
He always had a smile on his face, and always made you want to smile back – that was our dear friend, Dovid Yona Dubinsky OBM whom we lost 13 years ago.
Dovid Yonah was the most fun-loving person, who was enormously caring and sensitive to others. He would greet you with a joke, a smile that lit up the room. He spent a number of summers and Pesach breaks in Ukraine and enjoyed a warm relationship with the children who were his campers. He knew that some of the children didn’t have the most basic of necessities, so he collected clothing from families in Montreal for them. Even after he left Ukraine and moved on to smicha he kept in contact with his Ukranian campers. Dovid Yonah was also a counselor at CGI New York. When speaking to Dovid Yonah about the campers, they were his campers – his sense of devotion was unbelievable to see.
13 years later we still miss him, a lot. He was taken away so young. There was so much more for him to do in the world, to make the world a better place. We can take to heart his love and passion in life, his caring and sensitivity for others. We can still be inspired by his memory, emulate his middos, and reach for higher levels of Ahavas Yisroel.
Please join us for a Kiddush this Shabbos at the Bainoni Shul, 556 Crown Street, to celebrate his life. Come, make a L’chaim l’iluy nishmoso, share a memory, and be inspired by others’ memories of our friend Dovid Yona. In his Zichus let us farbreng in the true spirit of Ahavas Yisroel.
