Car-Menorah Parade Brings Joy to London

The city of London was greeted by a grand Car-Menorah Parade, which spread the light, joy and message of Chanukah to all of the residents of the UK’s capital.

The parade, which took place Motzei Shabbos, was skilfully arranged by the Shluchim of Yeshiva Gedola London, with the help of Reb Avraham Weisz.

This years’ parade outnumbered the past number of years with nearly 50 vehicles with Car-Menorahs, parading through the main areas of London. It caught the attention of thousands of pedestrians and residents in Hampstead garden suburb, Hampstead village, Golders Green, Finchley and Hendon. It was a major Persumei Nissa and a big Kiddush Hashem.

After the parade, the Bochurim hit the streets, handing out menorahs, as well as visiting locals at home, continuing in spreading the joy of Chanukah.

A special thanks goes to the Shluchim of Yeshiva Gedola London, especially Mendel Ashkenazi, as well as Hershel Kagan, for making and arranging the car-Menorahs, as it was the first time in 10 years car-Menorahs were available in London.

“The Menorah Parade is a wonderful way of bringing the spirit of Chanukah and the light of Chanukah ‘to the people’ as the Rebbe wants” said a bystander.

The YGL Shluchim would like to thank the local Shomrim Department, especially Gavriel Ost, for leading the parade, and for keeping the parade smooth and safe.
