Photo Gallery: Kapparos in Russia

In the first set of photos, Jews in Moscow’s Marina Roshcha neighborhood gather around the country’s chief rabbi, Berel Lazar, to perform Kapparos and receive ‘Lekach.’

In the second set of photos, merely days after the historic inauguration of their new Synagogue, the Smolensk Jewish community had their first traditional Kapparos in over 80 years. Rabbi Eliezer Posner performed the Shchita, supervised by the city’s chief rabbi Levi Mondshine.
