Rabbi Mashash Visits Lubavitch Headquarters and Ohel

Exclusive: Rabbi Ariel Mashash, leader of one of Paris’s large Jewish communities and son of the late Chief Rabbi of Paris Rabbi David Mashash OBM, visited Lubavitch World Headquarters, the Rebbes library and the Ohel.

During a trip to New York the leader of one of Paris’ large Jewish communities, Rabbi Ariel Mashash visited the Lubavitch World Headquarters, the Rebbes Library and the Ohel.

He arrived at 770 Wednesday morning where he was greeted by Rabbi Yisroel Zilbershtrom, who accompanied him during his visit, which began with prayers in the Rebbes Room.

As Rabbi Mashash exited the Rebbes room, he received the sad news of the passing of Paris Shliach Rabbi Shmuel Azimov OBM. With tears in his eye he shared details of his father’s special connection with Rabbi Azimov.

He then visited the ‘broadcast room’, from which The Rebbes Farbrengens were broadcasted all over the world. A tour of the room was given by Rabbi Chaim Boruch Halberstam, who was the pioneer of the broadcasts.

He also visited the Rebbes Library and received a tour from the chief librarian Rabbi Berel Levin.

Rabbi Mashash also stopped by the offices and archives of JEM where he was shown photos and videos of a visit of his grandfather, the Chief Rabbi of Morocco and later the Chief Rabbi of Jerusalem Rabbi Shalom Mashash OBM, to The Rebbe during a Lag Baomer parade in 1990. At the parade he sat in the first row among many prominent Lubavitcher Rabbonim.

Following the parade he merited to an unusual meeting with The Rebbe as he was returning to his office. Photos of this meeting are being publicized exclusively and for the first time online in this article.

Before concluding his visit to New York, Rabbi Mashash also stopped by the Ohel. The visit was arranged by Rabbi Levi Matusov from Paris, France.
