Photos: Girls High School Convention Kicks Off

Over 800 high school girls from Crown Heights and around the United States and Canada gathered for their annual convention, taking place this year on the weekend of Yud Tes Kislev. The weekend kicked off with a welcome program in Beis Rivka, complete with a concert and orchestra as well as a Chidon.

Every year high school students usually get together on the weekend of Chof Beis Shvat, but this year organizers elected to take advantage of the Yud Tes Kislev weekend instead.

Out of town students spent the day visiting the Ohel and 770, and later in the evening all students got together in the Rosa Hall at Beis Rivkah for the welcome and kickoff program.

The evening began with music played by an orchestra of talented musicians, which was followed by a choir made of up students from Beis Rivkah, Bnos Menachem and Beis Chaya Mushka.

A Chidon, styled like a game show, was the highlight of the evening with students competing on things they have studies throughout the year. The winner of the Chidon will receive $750 towards the cost of a trip to Israel.

The convention is organized entirely by volunteers from local school and will conclude with a gala banquet Sunday evening.
