Oholei Torah Pays Tribute to a Dear Friend
As today, 9th of Teves, marks the end of Shiva for Rabbi Hirshel Chitrik, Oholei Torah presents a gallery of pictures spanning over 50 years of Rabbi Chitrik’s involvement with the Mossad.
Rabbi Chitrik was a dear friend and a Board Member of Oholei Torah. He was the key player in the partnership between the former Brooklyn Jewish Center and Oholei Torah in 1971, which eventually lead to the sale of the building to the school in 1982. Today, more than 40 years later, the BJC edifice is the anchor building for the Oholei Torah Eastern Parkway Campus.
As is now known, Rabbi Chitrik accomplished many missions given to him by the Rebbe, of which the sale of the Jewish Center was one of them. This shlichus directly benefitted Oholei Torah, and the entire Crown Heights Community. One of the very first benefits for the community, was the Jewish Center Wedding hall, which gave the opportunity to the Lubavitch chassidim to make their weddings in Crown Heights, as per directive of the Rebbe.
The pictures are courtesy of the Oholei Torah archive office.
