Exhibition Fuses Chasidism and Contemporary Art

The Creative Soul, an organization that fuses Chasidic Judaism and contemporary art, hosted an exhibition titled “Pure Joy” as part of its annual celebration of creativity on the holiday of Sukkos.

For the last two years a collection of Jewish artists got together and shared their work with the community, raising the stature of creativity in the community. Following the first year, the Creative Soul was born. This year they were at it again, in the same – renovated – space on Kingson Ave.

The exhibition features works from a wide range of Jewish artists from around the world, reflecting the theme of Joy in Judaism.

The gallery is curated by Rabbi Yitzchok Moully, co-founder of The Creative Soul.

Featuring both established and emerging Jewish artists, the exhibition strives to raise the bar on the quality of Jewish art and engage the audience in a dialogue on the value of creativity in Jewish life.

Now that the Sukkos phase of the exhibition has ended, the Creative Soul will host a variety of events in the gallery, each aimed at celebrating creativity from a Torah perspective.

Some of the events include: a Moshe Hecht concert, a ladies only concert featuring Bulletproof Stockings, an open mike, a ‘ladies only’ open mike, a literary evening and a ‘Women in creativity’ evening.

The highlight of the programming will be an event titled ‘Chabad X,’ where a number of Chabad personalities will present for 10 minutes on the topic of “What so exciting about Judaism” (10 minutes to express what are you are passionate about in Judaism)

A full list of events can be found on the Creative Soul’s website.
