Grand Sukkos Display in Montreal

The Talmidim of Lubavitch Yeshiva in Montreal took part in a unique and very special Sukkah competition this year. A selection of mishnayos Sukkah presenting various types of kosher and non-kosher sukkos were given to the talmidim and they were required to present models of these sukkos, with explanations of why they are kosher or posul.

During the last few weeks many Talmidim have been working very hard building and designing these Sukkos. The result; a beautiful display of many sukkos from Mishnayos Sukkah, where the Talmidim could actually see hands on many of the different Shaylos that could arise while building a Sukkah.

On Sunday Afternoon there was an “Open-House” for the parents to see the hard work and effort that the Talmidim put into the Sukkos. The presentations as a whole showed an incredible degree of diligence and effort on the part of the talmidim coupled with a wonderful display of ingenuity and creativity. Parents were truly impressed by the exhibit and the chassidishe chayos displayed by those students presenting their sukkos.

There was a top winner from the older division and from the younger division, and two runner up winners in each division for gift certificates to the local Seforim store. All participants received a special prize for their efforts. With many amazing entries, it was a very tight race, and extremely difficult for the judges to choose the winners.

The event finished with a long awaited raffle for a set of Arbah Minim one winner per class. This was for our “Rosh Hashanah Tehillim Contest”. Throughout Rosh Hashanah, the Talmidim accumulated more than 10,972 minutes of Tehillim. In every class there was a raffle for an Arbah Minim set, kindly donated by Yeshuah Luria. We are very grateful for this donation, which truly enhanced this contest, Thank you.

This competition was arranged and directed by extracurricular director Rabbi Vaisfiche. Many thanks to our principal Rabbi Moshe Shur who encouraged the Talmidim to take part in this beautiful contest, and to our administrator Mr. Shimmi Traurig for constantly giving a hand and supporting our efforts.
