Cheder Menachem’s 11th Annual MBP Ceremony
As every year, from Yud Shevat thru Yud Alef Nissan, talmidim of Cheder Menachem in Los Angeles worked in preparing a special and most befitting present for the Rebbe in honor of Yud Alef Nissan with their annual Mishnayos Be’Al peh program; together, the talmidim learned and were tested on a total of over 158,864 lines of Mishnayos, Tanya, Siddur and Yediyos Kloliyos.
This number includes: 14,193 Mishnayos – including 219 complete Masechtos and 1,786 Perakim, 14 Sedarim, as well as 168 Perakim of Tanya Baal Peh. (These numbers are a very big Hosafah over the previous years, with over 4,000 more Mishnayos learnt than last year, and more than double the amount of Perakim Tanya!
As reported already (see article from Taanis Esther time), this year’s achievements included Menachem Farkash, a Talmid of Kitah Zayin who learnt the entire Shisha Sidrei Mishna, Levi Greenbaum, a Talmid of Kittah Vov who learnt Seder Moed and Kodashim, as well as more Masechtos and 13 Perakim of Tanya Baal Peh, Mendel Korf, a Talmid of Kittah Zayin, who learned the entire Seder Moed as well as Masechtos from Seder Nezikin and 6 Perakim Tanya Baal Peh, Levi Mishulovin, a Talmid from Kittah Vov, who lerned the entire Seder Moed Baal peh, and Yosef Yitzchok Wolowik, of Kittah Ches who until the end of the Program (י“א ניסן),had been tested on 2 Sedarim, and with the inspiration from the program, continued to learn the entire Shisha Sidrei Mishna Baal peh, completing it just in time for Shavuos.
On Sunday, Gimmel Sivan, a special ceremony was held where the talmidim were awarded Seforim as prizes for their efforts & achievements; The event was held in an auditorium close to the Cheder. The Cheder presented Reb Yankel with a personalized Challah cover, in appreciation for his “covering” the cost of the learning of Mishna (like the Challah cover, covers the Lechem Mishneh (לחם משנה בגי’ למוד משנה עם הכולל).
Rabbi Sholom Heidingsfeld, the coordinator of the Mishnayos Be’al Peh program, announced the accomplishments of this year’s MBP, which was followed by a video presentation showing the Farher given to the Talmidim who learnt at least one Seder of Mishnayos by a group of Rabbonim from the City of Los Angeles. This was followed by awarding the Seforim to the 6 talmidim with the highest accomplishmentsv.
The crowd was then treated to the Cheder’s Boys Choir, led by Rabbi Leibel Cohen, which sang a Chassidisher Niggun with a musical accompaniment. After this, every Talmid received a prize according to his achievements.
The Talmidim and Hanhala of the Cheder hope the talmidim’s accomplishments & achievements give much Nachas to the Rebbe and, as explained in the Rebbe’s Sichos, will bring the Hisgalus of Moshiach Now!
