Kamhin/Shammah Family Dedicates Torah in Rostov

Rabbi Chaim and Kaila Danzinger, Shuchim to Rostov-on-don, Russia welcomed guests from all over their city and around the world to a historic Siyum and Hachnosas Sefer Torah on the Rebbe RaSHaB’s Yartzeit.

Guests arrived from across the globe, including a number of individuals who drove upwards of 15 hours within Russia to participate in the celebration. Dedicated by Mr. Isaac and Frieda (nee Shammah) Kamhin and family from Hong Kong, the new Torah was completed at the Ohr Avner Jewish Day School in Rostov, and welcomed to the Saldanski Shul in the city. Mr. Kamhin’s son and grandson, Rabbi Moshe Kamhin and Zikky Kamhin travelled from Hong Kong to join in the Simcha.

“Glavni Ravino Russi,” Chief Rabbi Berel Lazar spent the day in Rostov with the community, accompanying Rabbi Danziger and a delegation to the Rebbe RaSHaB’s Ohel, and addressing a special reception at the Torah dedication. Rabbi Rami Banin, Shliach to Venice travelled especially to be part of the Siyum. Rabbi Shmuel Aharonov of Tzach who oversees the residence of the Rebbe RaSHaB was also in attendance. Rabbi Mendy Zaklos, Shliach to Briansk, Rabbi Levi Shtiefel, Shliach to Voronezh, and Rabbi Alexander Nemtsov, Shliach to Strovropel, journeyed many hours across the region to be at the celebration. Mr. Morris Shammah and Rabbi Getzy Markowitz, joined from New York.
