Adar Beis at Cheder Chabad Boys

This past Sunday the boys at Cheder Chabad had their monthly Sunday program organized by the PTA in honor of Adar Beis.

The program consisted of two parts, a talent show and a program centered on making and learning about graggers.

For the talent show, the first that included the whole school, boys from Kitah Aleph through Ches were invited to show off their talents by either singing, playing an instrument or doing some other skill. Boys came up onto the stage and sang in groups or alone, told jokes and some even gave a small puppet show. The talents also included juggling and riding a unicycle! Yasher Koach to all! The boys impressed their school mates with their wonderful talents and Rabbi Silverstein did a great job as compeer (master of ceremonies).

After hearing how evil Amalyk is still a force to be reckoned with today, the boys were encouraged to fight the Hamans of the world, both within and without, leilui nismas the members of the Fogel family who were the victims of the terrible terrorist attack in Itamar this past Shabbos. The boys were asked to write up on boards what are their own strategies for dealing with the inner and outer Hamans of the world are and to think of eradicating these negative middos and qualities when they would sound their own graggers on Purim. The boys then made their own graggers out of wood. The younger grades used using glue guns to make the graggers and markers to decorate them while the older boys also used glue guns but wood burners to decorate theirs. All the boys received a fact sheet on the gragger and its spiritual and historical significance.

Thank you to all the parents who were involved, particularly Mrs, Michal Silverstein, Mrs, Rochel Leah Ash and Mrs, Bracha Meshchaninov who were involved in planning the event. A big thank you to the parents who came to assist: Mrs. Tamar Dickel, Mrs. Rashi Kaplan and Mr. Izak Cohen. Your help was invaluable! A special thank you to Rabbi Wolowik for his part in helping with the Talent Show!
