    You can take a girl out of Emuna, but you cant take Emunah out of a girl…..

    seriously, I am in my 20’s and still remember my Machane Emunah days. Not because it didnt happen so long ago, but because it impacted my life and molded me into the person I am today. Both as a camper and as a staff member I gained so much from Rebbetzin Hecht and the camp in general – I wish I could go back every summer!! I actually get “home sick” for camp :)

    TO MUSHKY! you are a true role model. i have a daughter that looks up to u in every way! she is who she is today b/c what you do for her and the way you care for her. You give of yourself so much and care for others as if they were your own sisters. You are one very very special girl. It is b/c of ppl like you that we are going to merit to see MOSHIACH NOW!!!! keep up the good work! As my girls would say MUSHKY U ROCK!!!!!

    My sister and I were both at Camp Emunah the summer the Rebbe came to visit (1957). Rabbi Hecht A”H called an assembly and told us to go put on Shabbos clothes because a very special guest would be coming that Sunday afternoon. Within a very short span of time, it seems the whole countryside descended on the camp. The Rebbe arrived and delivered a beautiful talk.

    We attended camp two summers. We put on a play at Tamarac Lodge for the parents on visiting day. We hiked to Ellenville on a Thursday and that night we had hot dogs for supper.

    One Saturday night a few of us walked to one of the nearby hotels. The nurse saw us. Rabbi Hecht came and got us. We went back to camp and he played phonograph records so we could dance. These are some of the highlights I remember from camp.

    I forgot to mention that my sister Ruby must was 11 years old. She was in Bassie Hecht’s bunk. Chanie & Felice were the head counselors and Rabbi & Bella Mintz were the directors. I was a waitress serving the famous Bunk 13. Shalom Ber Hecht was in Gan Israel, at a different location. R’Shea Hecht was two with gorgeous blond curls. Kiki (Rivkie) and Rochelleh Hecht were tiny tots. Many years later my son and R’Hecht were dancing at the wedding of my friend’s daughter. He was mesader kedushin.

    Rabbi Steinmetz (Judy’s father) spent a Shabbos with us. It was a pleasure to hear him singing niggunim. I remember us doing calisthenics every morning before breakfast. Camp was fun.
