It was a dark rainy night, just the kind of weather that makes one want to cuddle up in bed. However, like a lantern illuminated in the forest, L’man Achai’s Chinese Auction displayed the tenacity and goodwill of the many hundreds of participants. L’man Achai Chinese Auction – A Lantern of Hope
It was a dark rainy night, just the kind of weather that makes one want to cuddle up in bed. However, like a lantern illuminated in the forest, L’man Achai’s Chinese Auction displayed the tenacity and goodwill of the many hundreds of participants. Though it may have stormed outside, the hall was aglow with light and unity.
The elegant décor was highlighted with vast candles that cast a wonderful warm ambiance on the affair. The tables were set artfully and the tasty hot dishes, salads and pastries were a delight on the palate as well as to the eye.
The audience was charmed by the sharp wit of the personable Devorala Blau who kept everyone entertained and touched by her quick and apropos repertoire. Roizy Adler spoke warmly about her mother, the esteemed Rebbetzin Chavi Kleinman A”H, who was a dear friend of L’man Achai. She reminded everyone of her mother’s speech at the L’man Achai event last year, and how she treasured every Yiddishe neshomo.
The guest of honor, Esti Khusid, spoke dramatically about the potential inside each and every person and the inspiring guest speaker, Rebbetzin Teitelbaum stimulated the audience with her strength and emunah, closing with a heartfelt song.
Mrs. Perele Pretter was presented with the Hakoras Hatov Award for her and her husband’s years of partnership and dedication to L’man Achai. Mrs. Gitta Steinmetz was presented with an award of recognition for her strong support of L’man Achai by her loving grandchildren.
The crowd was enthusiastic, animated and held spellbound throughout the evening.
The evening closed with the highlight; the selection of winners of over 70 magnificent prize packages. Congratulations to all the lucky winners…and to those who did not win…well, there’s always next year.
The real winners, of course, are the children of L’man Achai and all those who have helped ensure the success of the ‘Evening of Outreach’.
