CROWN HEIGHTS [CHI] — A delegation from EL AL, headed by CEO, Eliezer Shkedi, visited Crown Heights yesterday where they began the writing of a specially commissioned unity Sefer Torah.

EL AL that felt it imperative that Chabad play a leading role in a Torah symbolizing the unity of all Jews. They therefore reached out to Rabbi Moshe Kotlarsky, who arranged the visit despite being in the Congo.

After touring the Jewish Children’s museum, the delegation gathered in the Rebbe’s room along with members of the Rebbe’s Mazkirus, representatives of Merkos L’Inyonei Chinuch and Rabonim. Participants then took turns adding letters to the historic scroll.

At a lunch hosted by the Rabi Kotlarski’s office, Shkedi spoke of his fondness for Chabad on a personal and professional level. “Chabad is always there wherever Elal travels,” he said. “But what I love most about Chabad is their care and concern not just for the entire jewish nation, but for each individual.”

After exchanging gifts, a video of the Rebbe’s meeting with former EL AL director on NY Mr. David Shein was screened, in which the Rebbe directs him to place a pushka on every plane. The Elal delegation proudly declared that they continue to follow the Rebbe’s directive till today.

  • to # 4

“i think his grandfather has more nachas for omiting R krinski.”
Actually #4 (what chutzpa you have)looking at the pics one spots a picture of Rabbi Krinsky writing a letter in the Torah. OOOPS!

  • just wondering

    A few questions:

1)Firstly why are they writing in a sefer torah with a pencil?

    2) if this is a sefer torah to “unite all Jews”, how did they make the word dakka of pizuei dakka. whith an aleph or a hay?

If they made it with an aleph then its possul for ashkenazim. if they meade it with a hay then its possul for chabd and sefardim.

    Just something to think about
