Hundreds Farbreng with a Beloved Teacher

Thursday night, there were many farbrengens throughout the world. In Crown Heights it was obvious from the standing room only that the place to be was Empire Shtiebel.

Hundreds of former talmidim of Tomchei Tmimim – the United Lubavitcher Yeshiva – came to greet and listen to the inspiring Chassidishe Divrei Torah of their beloved melamed Rabbi Avrohom Yitzchok sheyiche Garfinkal.

The tremendous love and admiration the talmidim have for him was evident from the fact that many of them brought their young children to greet him as well. Although most of them have not seen him for twenty, thirty and even forty years, he remembered each one and even inquired by some about their brothers or sons who were also his talmidim.

After he left the farbrengen continued with inspiring words from Rabbi Moshe Bogomilsky, Rabbi Kasriel Kastel, Rabbi Binyomin Mentz and Rabbi Dovid Leib Grossbaum. The farbrengen was chaired by Rabbi Sholom DovBer Avtzon.

Everyone listened with rapt attention when Rabbi Simcha Bunim Piekarski, whose family from now on should experience only happy occasions, poignantly addressed the assembled. He reminded everyone that many years ago there were many tragedies in Montreal. The community wrote to the Rebbe and he answered that the community as a whole should enhance themselves.

As soon as their hachlatos were implemented, the tragedies stopped.

So too in the last few months, too many tragedies have affected so many families of Anash and klal yisroel, involving the passing of young men and women, some who were shluchei hamelech.

Let each one of us accept individually and communally a personal hachlata. Definitely the result would once again be beneficial to the entire worldwide Lubavitch community that these tragedies will stop immediately.

It was obvious that his heartfelt words entered everyone’s heart.

The shtiebel would like to remind the entire community that they are welcome to participate in their many ongoing shiurim. Including the Friday night shiur on inyonei diyoma, Chassidus at 8:30 Shabbos morning, Rabbi Berel Levin’s Sunday night shiur as well as the many other shiurim throughout the week.

Rabbi Garfinkel is a resident at the Long Island Hebrew Living Center located at 431 Beach 20th Street in Far Rockaway. Stop by and give him a visit.

what a beautiful Farbrengen, from one of his first Talmidem in 1946, till his last year.

  • Keep up the good work at the Shtieble

Empire Shtieble seems to be a really Chasidishe and vibrant place these past few years – despite all the slacking off we are seeing in Crown Heights, they manage to do things the right way – very incouraging – Mimenu Yiru V’chein Yasu.
