    It reminds me of a story:
    In 1948 Yeriushalayim was under sirge by Arab force. Food and water were scarce. One Yerushalmi managed to escape to Tel Aviv (large charedi olam in those days) and attended a kidush for a simcha. When he slipped back into Yerushalayim and started reporting on the full-fare kidush (unheard of in Yerushalayim under those conditions) – he was asked for details. “Herring,” he said. “Plates and plates of it.” “Kichel?” “Oy, voss heist kichel, as big as your dinner plates.” “There was cake, gazoz (soda), pickles, salad, kugel, lokshen and potato. Cholent, and also kishke.”
    An old man standing in the group, listening with closed eyes, said in deep dveykus, “Zog noch amol kishke.” (Please repeat and say kishke again.)
