Photo Competition: Meir Simcha Rubashkin – Postville, Looking at the Bright Side

Name: Meir Simcha Rubashkin
Age: 12
School: Oholei Torah, Postville, IA

About me: I am from Postville IA. These are the photos of my beautiful community. Enjoy!

I grew up in the beautiful town of Postville
With a Cherry Valley next door
Squirrels on my windowsill
And cows down every road
I love it here
I was educated here
Taught to work hard
& appreciate what I have…
…Sometimes it looks like freedom is far away.
Because justice isn’t served
But I follow in my fathers ways
turn my head away from the negatives,
look at the bright side,
and stay determined because Moshiach is on his way!

Did you see miss

I think these are stunning pictures and very meaningful and inspiring. The only objection I have is to whether he took all these pictures, including the ones of himself, are those him? Are they his brother?

  • Robert Wisler

May he be reunited with his father and may the Rubashkins live together as a family in a bay’is Shalom in peace and tranquility soon with God’s help and intervention.

And may all those who have suffered as a result of this horrible episode, from the poor immigrant workers, to the good Christians in the town of Postville, to the Rubashkin family (especially SMR’s wife and children) receive God’s speedy deliverance in order to rebuild their lives.

more powerful than the pictures you put (which are extremely gorgegous) is the poignant message that you potray. Wishing you many brachos, with the immediate release of your father!!

  • Mushky

Wow – this kid is unbelievably talented.
He’s the first kid that not tied all of his photos together; making them into a story.

  • MPinson

That last photo of himself is phenomenal.
    It shows the resilience that the Rubashkins have;
    that Am Yisrael has.

    Am Yisrael Chai!

  • Although they are great pics...

Don’t let his popularity fool your judgement.
Keep up the great work Meir.

  • BP Yid

I am sure the other participants are mature enough to understand that these photos are way too meaningful to beat. I am SURE they will be happy getting second place and on because they understand that photography is not only about skills and technique but also what feelings and emotions a picture creates in you.
These pictures brought tears to my eyes.
