This past Sunday in a Flatbush arena, considered by most the two best soccer teams in Brooklyn, met to decide a winner. Team Rostov with captain Oze Hasis opened up with Yehuda Lipkind scoring the first goal. Rostov, determined to hold on to their lead was up set when Yaccov Adi from the team of Yerushalayim, came right back with a goal of his own tying the game.
Not so fast came the inaudible reply of Yehuda Lipkind, with the determination of an unyielding fighter pilot he blasted a second goal putting Rostov again in the lead where they planned on staying.
Captain Hadar Hasis foiled this plan by bringing about a tie with just minutes before half time.
Rabbi Harari led a short halftime talk to parents, friends and the athletes on increasing acts of goodness and kindness during Sfiras Ha’Omer.
With more then twenty minutes left in the game Hadar Hasis and Leibish Hecht added their scoring touches to the game.
After the 45mins of intense soccer action both teams came out on top, Yerushalayim – 4, Rostov – 2 but Rostov never let down their guard and played with the courtesy and sportsmanship that makes them winners too!
“The skill and sportsmanship showed among the teams was incredible” said one very happy parent.
