A perfect day for softball. Game conditions at Lefferts Park today were cool, sunny, and dry for the first game of the Crown Heights Softball League season. Players arrived early to stretch for their first outing of the year and took their places in the field and in the dugouts as their wives, children, and fans filled bleachers.

This opening day was humbling for last season’s champion, the Mulles, as they were scalded 13-0 by The Tribe. For the second of the back-to-back games, the Red Heifers squeaked by the Kloppers 3-2, with the game’s winning hit delivered by singer Dovid Stein, scoring Danny Cole from first base.

This Thursday night the Skullcaps will play the Hebrew Hammers at St. Johns Rec field at 7:45 PM followed by the 9:15 PM game when the Red Heifers and The Tribe will each try to extend their winning streaks to 2.

Remember, early fan arrival ensures great seat selection!

  • More variety please

Instead of just having the Lubavitchers playing each other lets have more variety. Maybe we can compete against The Bobov (45 & 48) Satmer (M & W) Belz ,Munkatch ,Karlin,Skulen,Pupa,Stitchin,Rachmistrivk etc.,softball leagues.

Its great that these men and fathers enjoy.
Why cant we put the same effort into organizing this for our kids…Ever hear of Little league? Our boys sit in school between 8 and 10 hours a day. They get 2 half hours or so of recess, which is not enough time to organize games like this. It is well known that phys ed helps in learning and concentration and self esteem. Any volunteers besides Mrs. K who has been doing this for the last 5 years plus????

  • Too Much Chulent Makes the Baby Go Blind

I would love to see Lubabs playing against Satmar. An easy way to win would be to cover the softballs with chulent and instituting a rule that should any softballs get eaten, it’s an automatic OUT!

yeah, you guys def. need a little league. and the guy catching needs equipment. and i think some guys were wearing cleats, which is unnecessary because its artificial turf and they would be better off wearing sneakers.

  • TrachtGut

Maybe before every game a Kapittel Tehilim should be recited.
And the children (Big Players and Small Players) can recite the twelve pesukim.

  • TrachtBesser

    To trachtGut
You mised out and have a Tzedoko Box.
So before the game you Have Torah(12 Pesukim) Tefila (Tehilim) and Tzedoko

Ideas are a dime a dozen. Why don’t YOU organize something for kids?
