Lubavitch of Monsey’s First Hachnosas Sefer Torah
Hundreds gathered yesterday, Sunday, for the Chabad community of Monsey’s first Hachnosas Sefer Torah. The Sefer Torah, written during the Hakhel year as an expression of the Achdus of the community, was written by Rabbi Shimon Sonnenfeld of Nachalas Har Chabad in Israel, and was dedicated to the Rebbe by many members of Anash in Monsey.
The completion of the Sefer Torah took place at the home of Itche Noach Zeiler from where hundreds of men, women and children danced to the K’hal Tzemach Tzedek Lubavitch of Monsey shul which is under the leadership of Rav Boruch D. Lesches. This was followed by lively hakafos at the shul.
The event culminated with an elegant dinner featuring the Rebbe’s secretary Rabbi Binyomin Klein as the keynote speaker. A beautiful booklet containing minhagim, letters from the Rebbe and each dedication was distributed to all. The dinner evolved into a Chai Ellul farbrengen which lasted late into the evening.
A tremendous amount of appreciation goes to the committee that organized the event: Eli Cohen, Yitzi Lipsycz, Shloime Litzman, Yisroel Schulman, Avremel Wolowick and Itche Noach Zeiler.
