NYC’s New Area Code Revealed
New York City’s new area code will be 465, replacing four existing Bronx, Brooklyn, Queens, Staten Island and Marble Hill area codes.
Soon, the 347, 718, 917 and 929 area codes will be retired, and all new numbers will start with 465, according to the New York State Public Service Commission.
Those area codes are expected to be exhausted by the end of 2026, at which point the new code will be given to new telephone numbers, according to the commission. The new area code is expected to last for around 11 years.
