Minimum Wage for NYC Delivery Workers Rises From $7 to Nearly $18 An Hour
New York City delivery workers are about to get a big raise.
Mayor Eric Adams announced on Sunday that the city would increase the minimum wage for delivery workers to $17.96. The current base pay for delivery workers in the city is around $7 an hour.
The new minimum wage will go into effect on July 12.

So, cash tips will be taxed from now on in. The increased labor cost will be passed along to the customer in the form of a higher delivery charge. Customer prices will go up. The boss will not pay more. The delivery driver gets paid the same gross wage , but lower net wage after taxes. Expect the deliveries to be slower with no need to rush for more tips. Slow businesses will go under.
