BREAKING: FDNY Struggles Under Strain From Vaccine Mandate, Forces Firefighters To Remain At Work Over Staffing Shortage

Denying it despite the truth in front of them, it’s a politician’s way.

Despite assurances that NYC’s workforce will remain largely unaffected by the vaccine mandate that went into affect Monday, the FDNY is definitely showing the strain.

In the most recent sign that one of the largest fire departments in the country is in trouble, a “remain and work” order was put out Wednesday for groups of firefighters who were supposed to end their shifts at 6:00pm.

“All firefighters in groups 24, 25, and 1 who are coming off their second tour are ordered to remain in quarters pending assignment,” the order said. “Battalions after balancing their staffing shall report any excess members to their divisions.”

The order was published by the FDNY Chief of Operations John Hodgens.

Prior to the implementation of the vaccine mandate Monday, the FDNY had expected a closure of up to 20% of their fire companies. Instead, they were blindsided with over 2000 FDNY members who went out on sick leave, crippling the departments ability to respond as before.

As of recent comments by New York City officials, they refuse to acknowledge the extent of the issue at hand, and how badly the city’s operations are being effected.
