Gyms in New York City have been given the green light to reopen Wednesday, marking a step towards normalcy not seen in months.
Permission to open was granted at just 33% capacity starting Wednesday, with various required health and safety restrictions.
To use the gyms, people must pass a health screening, wear a face covering, and maintain social distance while at the facilities. Equipment must also be cleaned regularly, and gyms must pass a virtual inspection before reopening.
The most recent data the rate of transmission is 0.96, meaning active cases are spreading, but slowly. There are 248 new cases (+0.1% to 230,744); 36,897 new test results (+1.0% to 3,736,419), with a recent 0.72% positive rate; 28 new COVID-19 hospitalizations (+0.05% to 57,164); and 3 new deaths (+0.02% to 19,063).
