Plastic Bag Ban To Go In Effect In The Beginning Of March

New York States plastic bag ban, signed by Governor Andrew Cuomo, is set to go into effect March 1st of this year, and will definitely affect peoples daily lives.

The ban was signed under the New York State Plastic Bag Reduction, Reuse, and Recycling Act, that prohibits the distribution of plastic carryout bags by retailers in New York State, and authorizes counties and cities to impose a five-cent paper carryout bag reduction fee on paper carryout bags.

According to recent reports only New York City, Suffolk County and Tompkins County have opted to charge the five-cent paper bag fee.
