New York City Braces for Blast of Arctic Air

A blast of freezing arctic air from the Midwest is expected to hit New York City by Wednesday evening, sending temperatures plunging to near zero.

The upper Midwest was in the deep freeze Tuesday, with the arctic air expected to shift eastward and affect millions of people including New York city as the week wears on.

The freezing air is expected to hit New York City by Wednesday night — bringing with it extremely cold temperatures and low wind chills that could take us into the subzero zone and coat city streets in snow and/or ice.

“Windy conditions will contribute to wind chill values averaging around 10 degrees late Wednesday night and Thursday across New York City, and plummeting to around zero in the city Thursday night,” the National Weather Service predicted.
