City Raking In the Cash from Traffic Cameras

The city’s red-light traffic cameras have resulted in more than $52 million in fines last year to drivers who ran the lights, according to Department of Transportation records obtained by the New York Daily News.
That’s an increase of $15.5 million from 2009.
Throughout the boroughs, 150 cameras generated over one million summonses in 2010.
Each $50 summons is mailed to the owner of the car, along with a photo of their car blowing the light.
The Department of Transportation says summonses drop by as much as 60 percent in some locations after red light cameras are installed.

I don’t mind red light cameras, but I do mind yelow light cameras, and that’s what these cameras are, the picture should be taken only if you take a red, not if you take a yelow and it turns red when your half way though.
