A preacher whose past rhetoric against Muslims has roiled anti-Western sentiment and set off protests overseas says he’ll hold a rally in New York City before the 10th anniversary of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks.

Terry Jones told Michigan’s MLive.com (http://bit.ly/qi8Tyo) this week that he and fellow preacher Wayne Sapp will “point out the multiple dangers of the Quran” and talk about radical Islam on Sept. 10 somewhere in the city. He didn’t release the location.

Jones says he’ll also take part in ground zero events on Sept. 11.

The burning of a Quran earlier this year at Jones’ church in Gainesville, Fla., set off a series of violent protests that killed more than a dozen people in Afghanistan.

Jones tells MLive the act isn’t something he’s “looking to repeat.”
