New Round of Subway Ads Link Islam to Terrorism

Hundreds of potentially inflammatory advertisements linking Islam to terrorism have gone up in the subway — the biggest series of its kind to date.

The ads depict an image of the Twin Towers in flames with a quote, attributed to the Koran, “Soon shall we cast terror into the hearts of the unbelievers.”

The pro-Israel American Freedom Defense Initiative paid $77,000 for the message to be placed on 240 clocks throughout the subway system.

The MTA last year rejected a similarly provocative advertisement from the group, citing an authority guideline against content demeaning to any particular religious or cultural group.

The ads read, “In any war between the civilized man and the savage, support the civilized man. Support Israel. Defeat jihad.”

But the MTA backed down after a federal court ruled the guidelines violated the Constitution’s guarantee of free speech.

That ad campaign featured billboards in just 10 stations. Many of them were vandalized, authorities previously said. The Defense Initiative’s tactics have been criticized by Islamic and nondenominational organizations, including the Interfaith Center of New York.

“They may be legal but they’re not moral,” said the Rev. Chloe Breyer of the Interfaith Center. “Demonizing the religions of others does not show New Yorkers at our best.”

For all that 9-11 was displayed that New York said NEVER AGAIN and the war on terrorism which cost billions of dollars, this simple acceptance of $77,000 bribe from the Muslims is a total total stupid slap in the face to all the victims.     You got it all wrong these adds are to raise awareness to the Global Jihad, it is not Muslim Terror tactics, rather it is an anti Muslim initiative.

    Number 3: What are you saying? Have you lost your marbles. The mayor probably hasn’t even been notified if this billboard, he’s probably got 1000s of similar incidents on his table and will eventually get to it. Public Advertising and Web Hate Forums and Racist Ads promoting jihab is infesting our daily life, but in no way should you criticize Bloomberg. He stands up to the city in more ways than you will ever know.

    #7, you’re just as bad as #3. The ads are being put up by the good guys, not the jihadists, and in any case Bloomberg has *nothing to do with it*. He has no say over what the MTA does. And the MTA has no say either, because they have no right to turn the ads down.

    I think some people got the wrong idea, as I did, until I read the article.
    To those who think these billboards are in support of Arabs:
    The provocative messages displayed there are to educate the public as to the real intentions of Islamic militants. They are being publicized by a PRO-ISRAEL group so that people who hide their heads in the sand thinking that we just need to be nicer to the Arabs will be shocked into rethinking their position.
