NYC Board Approves Water Rate Increase
City residents will be paying more for water starting this summer.
The water board voted in favor this morning of a 7.5 percent rate hike for the coming fiscal year.
That works out to about $5 a month for the average homeowner.
It’s the first time in five years the increase comes in under 10 percent.
Those who pay by direct debit and enroll in paperless billing will continue to receive a two percent discount.
The rate hikes will take effect July 1st.

There is just no end to these water increases. it has to stop. why is it that they can vote themselves increases evry other year and no one even protests. this despicable act of the water board with the backing of the mayor is nothing but a way to rob the average homeowner. let the politicians get involved and do something. my current water bills are twice what they were 5 years ago. the people must not only stop this increase but demand a rollback to rates of at least five yers ago.
