NYC Catches A Break in 5th Snow Storm
NEW YORK [AP] — New York City officials say they caught a break with the latest snowstorm. Sanitation Commissioner John Doherty said Friday there wasn’t as much snow as predicted and the snowfall wasn’t as fast.
He says plows are already making progress on side streets.
The snow ended in the city at 7:40 a.m. Central Park got 4.2 inches. Light snow continued on eastern Long Island, but was expected to end by midmorning. Many schools in Westchester and Rockland counties were closing or having delayed openings.
There were no reports of problems at area airports or on commuter trains, subways and buses.
