Eleven New Yorkers Hit Mega Millions Second Prize
No one in the Big Apple hit the big Mega Millions jackpot, but New York is home to 11 newly minted quarter-millionaires.
The state racked up 11 of the 67 $250,000 second prizes for picking five of the six numbers, including one winner in every borough except Staten Island, lottery officials said yesterday.
As for the $380 million jackpot, two winners in Idaho and Washington state will split the second-largest prize of all time.
Two winners, in Georgia and New Jersey, shared a $390 million Mega Millions jackpot in March 2007 that remains the nation’s richest on record.
