Flights Resume at Airports Following Blizzard

An air passenger sleeps on a luggage conveyor belt at John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York, Monday, Dec. 27, 2010.

NEW YORK [AP] — Planes have begun landing again at New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport after a blizzard clobbered the Northeast and led authorities to suspend all flight operations.

Steve Coleman of the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, which operates the airport, says one flight arrived at JFK shortly before 7 p.m. Monday. Coleman says it’s a Royal Jordanian flight.

Flights were expected to begin arriving at Newark and LaGuardia airports Monday evening.

Thousands of travelers trying to get home after the holiday weekend have been stranded by the storm, which dropped more than 2 feet of snow on parts of the Northeast.

Flight operations at the metropolitan region’s three major airports were suspended Sunday night.

You cant have flights landing or taking off, if you dont have a way to get passengers to and from the airport.
