Cops Defiant
BROOKLYN, NY — Four cops involved in a chase that ended with a Brooklyn tattoo-parlor worker’s claim that he was violated with a police radio antenna turned down unofficial offers to lay low inside their precinct house.
Instead, claiming they did no wrong, the 71st Precinct officers returned to their duties after the story broke Thursday, according to a police source. It was unclear whether the fifth officer involved, a transit cop, was extended the same offer.
That the officers are still on full, active duty indicates the NYPD believes Michael Mineo’s allegations are baseless, said lawyer Stuart London, whose firm defends patrol officers.
Mineo, 24, accused the cops of sodomizing him inside the Prospect Park B/Q subway station Oct. 15. He was hospitalized for the next five days, then admitted again Friday with a bowel infection. His lawyer, Kevin Mosely, said he expects to file a notice of claim to sue the NYPD over the next few days.
