BROOKLYN, NY — A gang of rogue cops clobbered a Brooklyn man they saw smoking a joint, then violated him with a walkie-talkie antenna during a broad-daylight attack in a subway station, law-enforcement sources and the victim’s lawyer said yesterday.

The alleged attack, reminiscent of the 1997 police assault on Abner Louima, put Michael Mineo, 24, in Brookdale Hospital for four days.

“This is one of the most horrendous and grievous cases I’ve ever seen,” said Mineo’s lawyer, Stephen Jackson, who will file a notice of claim against the city next week.

In the Louima case, the victim was black, the attackers white. In this case, Mineo is white and the officers are black, Hispanic and white.

Law-enforcement sources said the investigation was focusing on five cops – four patrol officers from the 71st Precinct and a transit officer – all of whom were characterized as relatively inexperienced.

The officer who allegedly committed the violation is believed to be in his 20s, with 2½ years on the job.

this article really was not necessary,
seriously, there are youth that read this stuff,
    please, more common sense!

  • Inspector

Wow what an accomplishment just 4 months today that Mr. Simonety

Show Great Leadership as 71 pct CO

    Way to go inspector.

Crime is up and violations are up as well

This show just luck of humanity how low can people get

Inspector you are just a failure take your packages and go back

Every day you are in crown heights you loose more.

A warrior can’t be a leader all you accomplished here is more hate

As a person you had the opportunity to be good for all people of crown heights

And on your own you destroyed everything.

Now you going to be discharge from here with disgrace .

As the old Jewish say the fish stinks from the head.

  • Shmulie

This article is shmutz. The papers report that the allegations are not completely true. Publication of this on a Chabad website will make it harder to Chanina to get community funding from the Mayor, who will now be in office 5 more years.

  • whithheld

71st precinct cop told me “freedom of speech” when someone called me an F*ing Jew…. is that true? is that not a biased crime?

Once many years ago I had an experience to watch the NYPD in action, attacking prisoners inside a precinct behind a door that was closed to the public. It was a terrible display of abuse.

I believe most PO’s by nature are attracted to the force because it allows them to be aggressive and forceful and act superior at will. Police divorce and suicide rates are not higher then the general public without a reason.

I was NOT surprised that this disgusting thing could happen again.

  • CHer

When was the last time Chanina got ANYTHING other than a photo shoot for this community… Shmulie, I hope you’re being sarcastic!

  • J.J.

I find it hard to believe this story. Why would an officer use his own radio to violate someone? Then that officer would have a radio that smells like…

The story would be more believable if the officer was accused of using an object that he found in the subway or in the trash, but the officers personal radio sounds farfetched.

  • CN

Doesn’t make any sense for such a thing to happen in broad daylight in a subway station, which is very different from the in custody attack on Abner Louima.

  • MADD

why are crown heights people so blind what community funding is this shmulie talking about? the only funding chanina the moisser ganev gets goes from his right pocket to his left, the only time i ever walked into the jcc in crown heights for some help i was disgustingly shouted out and will never be going back there (there are many orginazations in williamsburg able willing to help the crown heights community) if chanina is considered a leader shoot me first.

    TO INSPECTOR
What’s your problem? We know full well that when Vega was here, our big problem was that all the crime had been hidden, tand therefore, couldn’t be dealt with fairly!
All you can do is complain!
The first thing Simonetti is making sure to do is file all cases of crime. Not worying about crime rate in his area. HE’S NOT TRYING TO HIDE ANYTHING! WE KNOW IT“S HERE! HE’S ADMITTING TO THE GOV’T WHAT REALLY HAPPENS HERE WITHOUT FEAR!

Now, look back since he started! Each time there was a crime. But he dealt with it in a proper way, and give it a bit of time, crime will go down!
The only reason it LOOKS as if crime went up, is bec. it’s all being filed now!

However, I’m wouldn’t be surprised if Simonetti sees this site! And if he sees that everyone here is just cursing him for showing the reality, and not commending him for a job well done, then he will say ”If I’m not appreciated, why should I work so hard for these Jews?“
So, say thank you Simonetti, I’m sure you’ll do a great job getting these police officers off our streets, and get on with life!

PS: THANKS INSPECTOR SIMONETTI! I’M SURE IF WE GIVE IT A DAY, WE”LL SEE HOW WELL YOU TOOK CHARGE OF THE SITUATION!

If your license drops to the ground when your pulled over – Kindly ask the officer to pick it up for you rather then bending over. PROBLEM SOLVED!

  • qkfngers

if you read any reports on the “victim” you’d see he is discredible, has a shaky story and is already on the Al Sharpton bandwagon. what does this have to do with the Jewish community here? Come on, you should have more discretion on the types of articles you’re putting up.

  • Dear FM:

    B“H
    Dear ”FM“:

    Halevai, that Simonetti is
”. . . NOT TRYING TO HIDE ANYTHING! WE KNOW IT“S HERE [crime]! HE’S ADMITTING TO THE GOV’T WHAT REALLY HAPPENS HERE WITHOUT FEAR!“

    Halevai, that under Simonetti,
”Each time there was a crime. But he dealt with it in a proper way, and give it a bit of time, crime will go down!
The only reason it LOOKS as if crime went up, is bec. it’s all being filed now!“

    Halevai that, concerning Simonetti:
”. . . everyone here is just cursing him for showing the reality, and not commending him for a job well done,“

No one here is complaining about showing the reality of the crime here, halevai this was so!

If you’d open your eyes and actually listen to people here in C.H., you’d understand that the problem is NOT that now-we-know-how-much-crime-there-
    is-here-and-we’re-all-blaming-Simonetti!
    Halevai!! How idiotic!

The problem is with HOW Simonetti deals with the high crime that EVERYONE knows we have!!

Since WAY before Simonetti, there has been way too much crime here, and a variety of unacceptable responses to that crime, from the ”hands off“ policies during the pogroms, R”L“, to the downright abuse-of-office behavior of the current 71st precinct.

Everyone knows (except you) that the 71st precinct is going to have to go through a few chiefs, until we finally get one who knows how to work with what goes on in Crown Heights. This is undoubtedly what had to happen in Williamsburgh and in Boro Park, before things improved in these places.

We have to remain vigilant, and we have to keep insisting on replacing the chiefs, until we get one who is right for the job here in Crown Heights.

I’m not saying the NY Post story here is accurate or not.

Unfortunately, however, there have been many terrorizing activities, and other out-of-line acts, against law-abiding Yidden over the recent summer months, by the 71st Precinct, since Simonetti replaced Vega (who, thank G-d is also no longer here!).

If you don’t believe me, call up any of the local (C.H.) lawyers.

It may take awhile, and, R”L”, more incompetent, inept, and abusive or neglectful Precinct chiefs, until the NYPD finally gets it right here.

THE POINT HERE IS THAT WE HAVE TO TURN OUR OUTRAGE WHERE IT BELONGS — where it can make a difference. Keep demanding new Chiefs, until the NYPD gets it right!

I suspect it’s not going to take much longer. I also suspect that Kelly sent us Simonetti as a sort of punishment for our having the chutzpah to demand Vega’s replacement.

But it’s not working, Commish. Simonetti has been given enough rope to hang himself, and Crown Heights is not going to crawl off like a scared dog with its tail between its legs.

We’ll keep demanding, until the NYPD gets it right!
