BDE: Mrs. Gittel Eckhaus, 86, OBM

With great sadness we report the passing of Mrs. Gittel (nee Griner) Eckhaus OBM, a child survivor of the Holocaust. She passed away Tuesday night, Chof Aleph Tishrei, 5785.

She was 86 years old.

Born in Poland, she escaped the Holocaust by walking through Siberia with her family.

She was predeceased by her husband Harav Hatomim Avraham Simcha Eckhaus OBM in 2018.

She is survived by her children; Matty Sod (Lawrence, NY), Uri Eckhaus (Efrat, Israel), Yehudah Tzvi Eckhaus (Cederhurst, NY), Mordechai Eckhaus (Pomona Heights, NY), Chaya DiGiacomo (Oceanside, NY), as well as many grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

She is also survived by her sister, Devorah Plotkin of Crown Heights.

The Levaya will take place Wednesday, Beth David Cemetery in Elmont, NY.

Shiva will take place after Yom Tov.
