BDE: Rabbi Yisroel Teitelbaum, 75, OBM

With great sadness we report the passing of Rabbi Yisroel Teitelbaum OBM, a Shliach and member of Anash of Morristown, NJ. He passed away on Thursday, the 11th of Cheshvan, 5781.

He was 75 years old.

Born and raised in Queens, New York, Reb Yisroel’s parents had a special connection with the Rebbe, and despite not being chabad themselves, they sent him and his brothers to learn in chabad Yeshivas.

After marriage, Rabbi Teitelbaum moved with his family to Morristown, NJ, where he spent over four decades working at the Rabbinical College of America.

Rabbi Yisroel Teitelbaum had seven siblings. Rabbi Eli Teitelbaum OBM, Rabbi Shlomo Teitelbaum OBM (the Rav of Hadas Yerayim), Reb Menachem Moshe Teitelbaum OBM, Rabbi Yitzchok Meir Teitelbaum (Miami Beach, FL), Rabbi Yosef Teitelbaum (Lakewood, NJ), Mrs. Miriam Leiser (Boro Park), and Mrs. Leah Feldman (Toronto, Canada).

He is survived by his wife Chaya and children: Yankee Teitelbaum (North Miami Beach, FL), Rabbi Zalman Teitelbaum (Bronx, NY), Choni Teitelbaum (Hollywood, FL), Moshe Teitelbaum (Los Angeles, CA), Dovid Teitelbaum (Morristown, NJ), Beryl Teitelbaum (Los Angeles, CA), Mendel Teitelbaum (Valhalla, NY), Mrs. Chana Devora Solomon (Short Hills, NJ), Mrs. Dini Felzenberg (South Carolina), Mrs. Dassi Leader (Manalapan, NJ), Fay Rosenberg (Teaneck, NJ), Mrs. Sarah Pruce (Ithaca, NY), and Shayna Teitelbaum (Jersey City, NJ).

The levaya will pass by the Rabbinical College in Morristown tomorrow, Friday at 10:15am and stop at Chabad of Short Hills at 11:15am.
