BDE: Rabbi Yehoshua Raskin, 97, OBM

With deep regret and great sadness we report the passing of Rabbi Yehoshua (Heshke) Raskin OBM, one of the founders of the Lubavitch community in Stamford Hill, London. He passed away Shabbos, the 16th of Elul, 5780.

He was 97 years old.

Rabbi Raskin was the son of the famous Mumme Sarah, whose work saved hundreds of chassidim by forging passports that allowed them to escape Russia.

Rabbi Raskin’s time in London was a list of accomplishments, including leading an organization of Shochtim.

He is survived by his sons Rabbi Yosef Yitzchok (London, UK), Rabbi Yehuda Leib (Melbourne, Australia), Mrs. Ettel Refson (Leeds, UK), and Mrs. Leah Friedman (Tzfat, Israel).

The levaya will take place Sunday at 1:00 pm from 156 Holmleigh Road London N16, and will pass Lubavitch House on the way to Addas Yisroel Cemetery.
