BDE: Rabbi Messod (André) Touboul, 64, OBM

With great sadness we report the passing of Rabbi Messod (André) Touboul OBM, the principal of the  Beth Hanna Girls School in Paris France. He passed away over Shabbos the 25th of Adar, 5780.

He was 64 years old.

Originally from Marseille, Mr. André Touboul had successfully completed mathematical studies and was an outstanding teacher. Attracted by the teachings of the Lubavitch Rabbi and influenced by the personality of the late Rav Chmouël Azimov, he had settled in Paris, got married and had quickly become one of the pillars of the movement.

Responsible for the synagogue on Lamartine street in Pairs, he had demonstrated organizational and leadership qualities. Determined to get the best out of everyone and every circumstance, he put his skills at the service of the ‘Haya Mouchka school, still in its infancy at the time, in the premises on avenue de Flandres.

When Rav Azimov conceived the project to build a huge complex on a land acquired after innumerable negotiations, Mr. André Touboul did not spare his efforts to carry out the negotiations with the different partners so as to obtain the best return for every inch, which can be seen today in the building.

Rabbi Touboul unfortunately fell ill with the Coronavirus a few days ago and succumbed to the illness.
