BDE: Mrs. Leba Chana Lubin, OBM

With sadness we inform of the passing of Mrs. Leba Chana (Eloise) Lubin, a longtime pillar of the Anash Community in Chicago. She passed away on Tuesday, Chof Alef Cheshvan following an illness.

After moving to Chicago in 1975, the Lubins became active in the fledgling Lubavitch Community in Chicago, where they developed close relationships with Rabbi and Rebbetzin Shlomo Zalman Hecht, Rabbi and Rebbetzin Hershel Shusterman, and Rabbi and Rebbetzin Yehoshua Goodman, of blessed memories. They were from the earliest parents to send their children to Cheder Lubavitch in Chicago in 1980.

Mrs. Lubin was active in many initiatives of Lubavitch Chabad of Illinois led by Rabbi Daniel Moscowitz of blessed memory, and Tblct’a Mrs. Esther Rochel Moscowitz, including Nshei Chabad of Illinois , Shifra and Puah, Dial a Jewish Story, and many Chessed projects.

The Lubins have been longtime pillars of Cong. B’nei Ruven and supporters of Rabbi and Mrs. Boruch Hertz, and have single-handedly maintained Cong. Anshei Lubavitch of Chicago, one of the oldest active Lubavitch Shuls in the United States.

An interior designer by profession with an incredible artistic style and eye for detail, Mrs. Lubin was instrumental in designing many Shuls, Chabad houses, Mikvahs and homes in Chicago and beyond.

She is survived by her husband Dr. Avrohom (Arthur ) Lubin and children: Rabbi Shalom Lubin (Parsippany, New Jersey), Mrs. Sarah Rayzel Wagner (Morristown, New Jersey), Mrs. Dena Walters (Chicago, Illinois), Rabbi Mendy Lubin (Florham Park, New Jersey), Mrs. Chaya Schurder (Chicago, Illinois), Mrs. Rachel Drizin (Brooklyn, New York), and K’ah many grandchildren.

The Levaya will take place Wednesday morning at 11am at Cong. Bnei Ruven .

Shiva will be observed at the Lubin residence, 6508 N. Whipple Chicago IL 60645, beginning Wednesday afternoon through Tuesday morning November 6th.

Two minyanim Shachris – 8am and 9am , Mincha Maariv Bizman (2 Minyanim needed)

The family requests private time between 1pm-3pm daily, and no visitors after 10 PM.

    We got to know Mrs. Lubin during Rochel and Eli’s chasuneh and sheva brachos.
    What a refined, regal and special lady.
    We can only say “Boruch Dayan Haemes” and plead even more for Moshaich to come now!!
