  • heartbroken

Gedalia will be sorely missed by his loved ones, family and friends and by the endless stream of “tzedaka” collectors that line his door every sunday evening.
Gedalia was a tremendous baal tzedaka, giving thousands upon thousands of dollars to individuals and families and never asked for recognition or Kavod. Those that have been at his house on any ordinary sunday over the past many years can attest to his endless outpouring of money to tzedaka.
The children that he raised are a pure example of children who follow in their parents footsteps, they are children who learn from first-hand example what it means to help a fellow jew, in a sincere and humble way. And what it means to keep to a zman, and make time for learning each and every day.
    What a terrible tragedy.
    Ad Mosai!

all the wonderful words said here leave little for me to say. I say that all those words don’t add up to what Gedalia was. My heart goes out to the family. They have riches from their family that few have had the bracha to have.
    MOSHIACH NOW.

  • we love you

    this is totally outrageous!

May we merit to have the geulah right now, and we would all be in Yerushalayim with moshiach.

Every morning Gedalya used to daven in the 6:15 minyan and put on tefillin with every beggar in crown heights. He gave each one of them a dollar every morning so they would continue coming ever day.

I became friends with his son, Yitzi, in Postville. My heart goes out to him and the entire family.

  • Malcolm Alter

I am terribly shocked and deeply saddened by this tragedy. I was a childhood friend of Gedaliah’s brother Bennet and still stay in touch. I can’t tell you how sorry I am. My heart goes out to the entire family.

    Sincerely,

    Malcolm Alter Boston, Mass.

  • Yisroel Meyer

I used to learn chassidus with Gedalia when I lived in Crown Heights. He was outstanding in sechel, humility and compassion. I am deeply saddened. May Hashem give consolation to his wife, children, family and friends.

  • Bibi

To this day it’s impossible to fathom that R’Gedalya is not in this world. But his wife and children are true living examples of what a real Jew and chossid means. They are the example of kindness and intelligence and of being educated and open minded and frum and chassidish. Hashem should bless them all and give the strength.
    Ad Mosai!
